The True Spirit of the Holidays: Giving Back to Make a Lasting Impact
The holiday season is a time for joy, reflection, and connection. As we gather with loved ones, we’re often reminded of the blessings in our lives. But for many, the holidays can be a reminder of hardships, loneliness, or a lack of resources. This season, let’s come together to make a difference. Whether through donating, volunteering, or spreading kindness, your contributions can bring warmth and hope to those who need it most.
There are simple ways to make a difference at Waypoint during the holiday season:
-
Make a monetary donation: A donation of any amount will help fund our vital programs that support those impacted by housing instability, violence, or poverty. Donations from community members help ensure our mission can be fulfilled and the 20,000+ who come to us for support are given the tools to make their future brighter.
-
Help us with our Waypoint Wonderland Celebration: This celebration provides holiday gifts to over 400 children. There are several ways to be a part of this joyous event:
-
volunteer as a personal shopper, gift wrapper, or help with set up/tear down
-
host a giving tree
-
shop for gifts or gift cards and wrapping paper
-
Host a donation drive: We have several in-kind items we are looking for to support our programs. A simple gesture such as donating move-in kits for families moving into their own home can make a world of difference for someone in need.
-
Start a fundraiser: This is an easy way to spread awareness about a cause you care about, and a little can add up to a lot when we all pitch in together. Create a fundraiser on Facebook or word of mouth with your friends.
-
Spread the word: Even if you aren’t able to donate money, time, or goods, you can still make a difference by raising awareness. Sharing information about our services on social media, telling your friends and family about volunteer opportunities, or encouraging others to give can amplify the impact of your efforts.
As we enter this season of celebration, let’s remember that the true spirit of the holidays lies in giving — not just gifts, but kindness, compassion, and support for those in need. Your commitment to helping others not only brings joy to those in need but also strengthens the fabric of our community. This holiday season, let’s continue to come together, share what we can, and create a brighter future for everyone.
Thank you for being a part of our mission. Together, we can make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time.
