Anna and Her Children Flee Domestic Violence
Anna and her two young children were experiencing domestic violence from her partner and needed critical assistance to flee the abusive household. Her partner had financial control especially over her phone, allowing him to monitor her calls and texts, which severely limited her ability to seek help safely.
Waypoint’s Domestic Violence Victims Services Program intervened to support Anna’s journey to safety by assisting her in problem solving ways to get to a safe place to stay and provided gas for her vehicle so she could travel to a secure location. Additionally, Waypoint provided her with a new phone, free from her partner’s surveillance. This phone was a lifeline, enabling her to contact law enforcement, access essential resources, and stay connected with her children during emergencies.
With the independence and safety this phone provided, she was able to locate stable housing. Her family successfully moved into a secure and independent home, free from the threats they previously faced.
